If you have a Daikin mini split that is not working, the fault codes can be pulled using the remote control.
A flashing green light often appears on a Daikin unit when there is a problem.
The remote control Cancel button is used to pull the code from the unit.
Once the code is known, the problem can be troubleshot and fixed.
The Cancel button on the remote control is held for 5-6 seconds until a 00 is shown on the display.
Once in the mode, the Cancel button will cycle through the codes giving short beeps for non-errors and a long beep for the problem error.
This has been tested and works with L-Series, Q-Series, Cobra models, and more.
Below are the steps to follow to find the error code on a Daikin mini split.
How To Find the Fault Code on a Daikin Mini Split System
- On the remote control, find the Cancel button.
- Press and hold the Cancel button for 6 seconds.
- 00 will flash on the remote display.
- Press the Cancel button again once to cycle through the fault codes.
- A short beep will be heard each time the Cancel button is pressed. A Long beep will be the error code.
Daikin Mini Split Fault Code Meaning
Once the code is found, it can be looked up using the Daikin error code chart.
For example, the error code U4 was found above, with the chart showing there is a communication problem between the indoor and outdoor units.
A U4 error code can often be cleared by turning off the power to both indoor and outdoor units at the breaker.

Be sure to write down the code in case a technician is called to look at the unit.
